Can you believe it has almost been one year since the 2020 ACT election?

Thanks to the support of thousands of dedicated volunteers, the election saw ACT Greens tripled our representation in the Legislative Assembly - from two to six MLAs.

We now have an unprecedented three Greens Ministers driving a different type of Cabinet process, and three cross-bench MLAs putting the community's voice at the centre of the Legislative Assembly.

We negotiated a historic Parliamentary and Government agreement that included over 500 policy commitments. Taken together, it is safe to say the ACT is by far the Greenest jurisdiction in Australia.

But as our new Assembly team will tell you, getting six MLAs elected was the easy part. Since the election, your Greens team has been working tirelessly to represent community voices and ensure our election commitments become a reality.

Our impact has been felt across all levels of government, including huge progress within the ACT. Just this week, your Assembly Greens team proudly announced that the ACT will now have a dedicated coroner and will plant an additional 54,000 new trees.

Meanwhile, the advocacy of our Greens Ministers have made a big impact at the national level. It was Shane Rattenbury pushing for stronger national energy and emissions standards that ensured the Federal government would not succeed at further subsidising coal. It was Emma Davidson’s outspoken advocacy as Minister for Mental Health that ensured people with disabilities are no longer living in fear of unjust independent assessments applying to their NDIS programs. And it was Rebecca Vassarotti that gained national Ministerial majority support for introducing accessibility standards into the National Construction Code.

We'd love it if you could join us for a special event marking one year since our electoral milestone. We will reflect on our achievements so far, the challenges of working within government and our focus for the next year.
