Since the hope of the popular uprising in 2019 when a 30 year military dictatorship was overthrown, the promise of a civilian government seems further away than ever. Following the April 2023 military coup by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and Rapid Support Forces/Janjaweed militia (RSF/Janaweed) , the ongoing violence is having devastating consequences on the country and people of Sudan. The Sudanese struggle for freedom from tyranny still stands despite the horrific killings and famine.
Hear from young Sudanese Australians, Wareif Ismail and Rafeif Ismail, about what is happening in Sudan, why it matters , how the diaspora communities across the world are responding, and what everyday people can do to help.
