Our popular 'Let's Talk' series is back! Join our speakers Sue Higginson, Hannah Thomas and Zach Schofield as they discuss anti-protest laws in NSW
Protest is under attack in New South Wales.
Labor Premier Chris Minns and the NSW Police tried to stop the March for Humanity they took their fight to the Court - but the people won and hundreds of thousands of people marched across the Harbour Bridge and expressed their right to protest Israel’s brutal genocide in Gaza.
Since then the Premier has refused to rule out changing the law to try to stop protests - and we know the Liberals and Nationals would back him in.
Meanwhile the police are attacking peaceful protestors and covering it up with impunity given to them by the anti-protest laws.
Our movement needs to fight back.
Join:
- Sue Higginson MLC, solicitor and Greens Justice Spokesperson
- Hannah Thomas, human rights advocate
- Zach Schofield, Rising Tide Organiser
… for a discussion and a call to action on protecting the right to protest in New South Wales.
The Greens are pulling every lever we can to protect the right to protest. We’ve introduced laws in both houses to repeal anti-protest laws and to remove draconian protest move-on powers from police.
There is more division within the Labor Government than ever, with Labor Premier Chris Minns on one side and other Labor MPs finally calling for a rethink on the right to protest.
What happens now will decide the future of protest in this State - which is why we need to come together.
