Come and celebrate all of our hardwork this election as we watch the election results roll in!

Grassroots participatory democracy is one of the Greens’ core values, but when it comes to deciding whether to support controversial government bills in parliament, ordinary Greens members and supporters generally don’t get a direct vote – such decisions are usually made by Greens MPs alone, guided by Greens policy.

Join us for a public online forum organised by the Queensland Greens’ Participatory Democracy Circle where we unpack the practicalities and challenges of democratising decisions regarding how Greens MPs vote in parliament.

We’ll be joined by former Greens MP for South Brisbane Amy MacMahon, who’ll be reflecting on her experiences as a member of Queensland’s Legislative Assembly, including one occasion – the passing of the Coercive Control and Affirmative Consent Bill - where Greens members were given a direct vote to inform how Queensland’s two Greens MPs voted in parliament.

This event is open to anyone with an interest in participatory democracy. Moderators reserve the right to eject attendees who are disruptive or intentionally derailing the conversation.

Please register via this website and you’ll be emailed a link to the Zoom call.
